PRP is a form of cosmetic injectable treatment that uses the patient’s own platelet rich plasma. The plasma component contains stem cells and growth rich platelets; and when injected back into the skin or applied topically, it accelerates the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin to provide overall skin rejuvenation. PRP can be added to most facials or lasers offered. This will allow absorption to the product in the epidermal/dermal junction. When PRP is injected, it will stimulate collagen and smooth textural areas on the face and body. It can also be used to help heal skin when paired with any down time laser.

Prior to facial, normally less than 2 ounces of blood (between 15-50 milliliters) are drawn from the patient (almost identical to a routine blood draw). A skin health expert at Skin Boss will then take the vile of blood to a separate room that holds a centrifuge device. The centrifuge system is a device that spins at high speeds. This action physically separates the solid and liquid parts of the blood. The next phase in the process of getting PRP is collecting the platelets while being spun in our centrifuge device. After the PRP is completed, it will be applied on the skin topically or injected directly into the body.

Possible risks that can occur while having a PRP treatment are soreness in the area where the blood was drawn, infection to the area where the blood was drawn (if the site isn’t being taken care of properly), allergic reaction (if materials to draw blood caused a skin reaction) and skin discoloration/bruising.
