Dysport® is AbobotulinumtoxinA, a “wrinkle relaxer” similar to BOTOX®, but a different family. Dysport® is a cosmetic injection with a fine needle that relaxes dynamic lines. This treatment is for moderate lines and treating crows-feet, otherwise known as smile lines. It is also great for the glabellar area between the brows that can give us that unhappy look, even when we’re happy. At Skin Boss, we will go through a complete analysis with you to determine the best location for treatment. Dysport®, just like BOTOX®, is a temporary treatment of mild to moderate lines, however, when used consistently the effects can last longer.

Both Dysport® and BOTOX® are FDA approved for treating the area between your eyebrows (glabella) and forehead lines. Many patients believe that Dysport® starts working in 1-2 days, whereas BOTOX® typically starts working in about 5 days. Every person is different, and we at Skin Boss will gladly go through the options with you.

First, the patient is assessed based on a detailed medical history and facial assessment. The skin is then cleansed and possibly marked with a pencil. Dysport® is then delivered to the muscle with a very small needle. After treatment, the patient will feel no difference because the medicine will take 2-7 days to work and peaks at 2 weeks. The patient will be instructed to follow up at that time for photos and possible adjustments to the treatment. Patients are given post instructions on the day of treatment: no vigorous exercise for 24 hours, no facials or lasers for 2 weeks and no massages where your face is pressed into the donut hole for 1 week.

Some side effects can occur, such as minor pain at the injections site, redness, or mild swelling. These side effects can last for a few minutes or for up to a few days, however that is rare. There are more serious side effects that we can discuss with you at your consultation.

Benefits of Dysport® are smoothing dynamic lines that are mild to moderate, which will assist you in the smooth and natural look you have always wanted. Certain muscles in the face can cause drooping or have a dimpled texture to the skin. With Dysport® treatments, many times this can be corrected. Dysport® generally lasts 3-4 months, but once again, everyone is different.

This is an excellent treatment for anyone over 18 who is relatively healthy. It should not be performed on people that have muscle disorders or allergies to any of the ingredients. At Skin Boss, all risks and side effects will be discussed with you prior to treatment.
