VI Peel
The VI Peel is one of the most popular peels on the market because it is safe and effective on all skin types. This is a medium depth peel that provides results within 7 days. It is also customizable to suit individual skin care needs. VI Purify, VI Precision Plus, and VI Purify with Precision Plus are a few of the peel options we can offer to treat different skin conditions.
What Is A VI Peel?
The original VI Peel has a combination of effective ingredients including TCA, Salicylic acid, Phenol, Vitamin C and Retinoic Acid. The original VI Peel is great for all patients looking for a refresher that have less targeted skin care goals. For clients who are targeting specific conditions, there are the Purify and Precision Plus options. When upgrading to the VI Purify for acne, there are additional ingredients, such as benzoyl peroxide added to assist in clearing the skin by killing acne bacteria and salicylic acid, which reduces bacteria and oil in the pores. If upgrading to the VI Precision Plus for pigment, like sun damage or melasma, there is a booster that can be added to the VI Peel. The booster includes a lightener and brightener with ingredients such as Kojic acid and Hydroquinone. Combining the VI Purify for acne with Precision Plus for pigment is a great treatment for patients struggling with breakouts and the pigmented marks left behind. VI Peels can be done on the face, neck, chest and back.
VI Peel Treatment Process
Prior to the VI Peel, the skin will be assessed to determine how to customize your peel. The application process is simple and takes less than 15 minutes. The skin is cleansed and prepped with a solution to remove oil and allow the peel to penetrate more deeply. The peel is applied avoiding the sensitive areas around the eyes, nose and corners of the mouth. There is a numbing agent in the peel that works quickly to make the process more comfortable. The peel is self-neutralizing and the patient leaves with the peel still on the skin which may have a slight tint. The post care instructions are very important to the process and the result of the peel relies on the patient being compliant. The patient is sent home with multiple peel pads that are to be applied to the skin at specific times, all listed in the post care instructions. The peel pads act as a catalyst to the peeling process. In the first few days there is generally no peeling. Typically the peeling starts 2-3 days after it’s applied and will peel for another 3-4 days. The peel process from start to finish takes about 1 week. There can be mild discomfort and itching, but in general, it’s painless and easy to tolerate.
Potential Risks and Side Effects?
The VI Peel is safe for all skin types and most skin conditions. Reactions and adverse effects are rare and can be avoided with proper communication on allergies or sensitivities, and if proper post care is followed. The use of Hydrocortisone cream in the post care process is helpful to reduce skin irritations.
VI Peel Benefits
The VI Peel can benefit all skin types and all ages. The different peel variations can treat specific skin care conditions, such as melasma or pigment concerns, acne and marks left by acne, as well as improve the signs of aging. The results can last indefinitely, however, the skin is always aging and there are environmental factors, like sun exposure that are a factor as well.
Who Should Get a VI Peel?
The VI Peel is an amazing option for most patients who are looking to refresh and rejuvenate the skin with a non-invasive procedure.
