Dermaplaning is an anti-aging procedure that exfoliates the surface of the skin by removing dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz). Removing the facial hair will also remove trapped dirt and oil resulting in less acne breakouts.  This treatment also allows for products to penetrate deeper into the skin.  After treatment, your skin will be much smoother allowing your makeup to be applied more evenly.  Dermaplaning is primarily done by a trained and certified medical aesthetician.

The procedure itself has the aesthetician gently gliding the scalpel across the skin, removing the outermost layer of the skin cells from the face. As a byproduct, it also removes vellus hair (the hair will grow back at the same rate and texture as it was prior to the treatment). To perform the treatment, our medical aesthetician will use a specific scalpel handle, with a blade specifically for dermaplaning. The blade is used on clean, dry skin. Potential risks and side effects can occur if proper protocol isn’t followed or proper after care adhered. These risks and side effects include post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, break outs, cuts and nicks (if blade is not in contact with the skin correctly)
