After a thorough consultation with your Skin Boss nurse injector, photos are taken, and the goals are discussed with you. The skin is cleansed and depending on the area of treatment, a topical numbing cream may be applied. The skin is often marked with a pencil for injection points. When the dermal filler is being administered, it is done with a very fine needle or cannula (not sharp but looks like a needle). Small amounts of the dermal filler are then applied to different plains under the skin. This is relatively a short in-office treatment with little downtime, and the results are immediate. Before the treatment, there are a few different things you can do in order to prepare. If you take blood-thinning medication, it’s best that you discontinue the use of those medications for at least one week before the treatment commences. Alcohol use (especially red wine) should be ceased 1-2 days before the injections that take place, as should aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, Vitamin E, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, and Ginkgo Biloba.

The most common side effects of treatment are mild and include minor pain, itching, tenderness, redness, or temporary lumps and bumps around the injection area. Serious side effects can happen with filler treatments, which your medical professional will discuss with you prior to performing the treatment. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you will need to postpone your treatments. If you have had any major illnesses in the past or cosmetic issues, your medical professional will discuss this with you prior to your treatment.
